Humletorvet was mercifully spared the worst of the bombardment. Most of the buildings around the square were hit, but none to such an extent that they had to be rebuilt from the ground up, and damage reparations were relatively modest. Many of the buildings from that time are still standing today, though this is not true of Humletorvet 5, which was built in the 1870s. In 1864 it belonged to a photographer called Stickler, who received 348 Rixdollars, the highest compensation paid out in the square.
