In 1864, this building was the site of Reimuth’s Hotel, among whose guests were the representatives of the press. During the bombardment in the first weeks of April, the Hotels was outside the range of the guns, so both foreign and Danish journalists had a safe base here During later shelling of the town it suffered minor damage, assessed at 70 Rixdollars.

But even though the building was not in the danger zone at the beginning of April, the hotel maid was apparently not completely happy with the situation – much to the amusement of Second Lieutenant Laurits Lassen and his comrades.
